Basic design features:
- The stator, main poles, and interpoles are all completely laminated.
- The low induced voltage is due to the armature's well-proportioned length-to-diameter ratio.
- Low bar-to-bar voltage ensures proper commutation.

- Well-designed end frames and louvres allow for easy examination while also reducing noise.
- NDE spigots and stub shafts are standard, accepting adaptors for all well-known tachometer and pulse generator brands.
- High efficiency is achieved through low field losses and a well-proportioned air gap between the armature and stator.
- Brush and commutator wear is minimal because of effective commutation.
- A 1-phase thyristor supply without external inductance saves money and space.
