Optic fibre modules:

  • The optical fibre optic waveguide modules LW215 and LW216 work together to form an optical transmission system for the data transmission of incremental sensor or transmitter signals through an optical waveguide.
  • It is also possible to connect differential signals from other sources with RS422 or push-pull HTL levels (for instance, incremental length measuring systems or glass scales, etc.).
  • The transmitter and receiver modules each contain four entirely independent channels with differential inputs and outputs.
  • Signals with a maximum data rate of 2 Mbit/sec can be transferred on all four channels.
  • The LW215 component functions as a transmitting module for light transmissions up to 2000 meters.
  • It converts the incremental signals from rotary pulse encoders, conventional sensors, or measuring systems into optical fibre signals.
  • The LW receiver (see LW216) then converts the optical signals back into the original incremental format.

  • 4 independent input channels in the format A, B, C, D [HTL] or A, /A, B, /B, C, /C, D, /D [RS422], also available for a single channel.
  • 4 output channels in the following formats: A, /A, B, /B, C, /C, D, /D [RS422] or A, B, C, D, /D [HTL].
  • Input frequency maximum: 1 MHz.
  • very short conversion time < 300 ns.
  • Optical wavelength: 850 nm.
  • The transmission distance is up to 2000 meters.
  • Power supply: 5 VDC (for LW215).
  • Power supply: 10–30 VDC (for LW215-1, LW215-2, and LW216-3).
  • Snap-on housing for the top hat rail (EN 60715).
  • Pre-configured optical fibres are available.
