PLXD Thyristor Stack Controller
Thyristor Stack Controller:
- The PLXD includes all of the features of the PL/X family and is used to operate external three-phase thyristor stacks for DC motors.
- It comes in the same packaging as the version’s PL/X 5–50.
- With a primary pulse current of up to 1.5 amps, user-supplied pulse transformers can be driven by gate-drive pulses from the PLXD.
- The thermal heatsinks sensor switch, field signal, high voltage armature voltage feedback, and externally generated isolated armature current signal are all accepted via terminals.
- Additionally, the unit supplies a short-circuit-protected +24-volt supply for the gate-drive pulse transformers.
The following stack configurations can be driven by the PLXD:
- Two bridges connected in parallel (12 thyristors) or a six-pulse, two-quadrant bridge (6 thyristors).
- 12 thyristors in a 6-pulse, 4-quadrant regen anti-parallel bridge.
- Within the gate drive capabilities, additional stacks can be utilized simultaneously.
- Plug-in screw terminals are used for all customer control connections.
Description:
- The PLXD's three-phase auxiliary supply inputs (EL1/2/3) can handle up to 690 volts of AC.
- External stacks can be of greater voltage if necessary.
- Up to +/-1000 volts DC can be monitored using the armature voltage inputs.
- For controlling fields up to 32 amps, there is an integrated motor field bridge with independent single-phase AC supply inputs (EF2/3).
- The input voltage rating of the internal field bridge supply is 500 volts AC.
- It is possible to manage an external field using main gate pulse transformer drivers that the user supplies, as well as to provide an external field feedback signal.
- For those who would rather not provide their own components, a pulse transformer unit (Product Code LA102800) is offered at an additional cost.
- It includes every external interface part needed to integrate the PLXD with the thyristor stack and the AC current transformers that go with it.
- It consists of an armature burden rectifier network, two pulse transformer networks for an external field bridge, and twelve pulse transformer networks for two or four quadrant bridges.
- Screw terminals are used for all interface connections, and the unit is intended to be installed on a DIN rail.
