An increase in temperature causes the contact to open. The thermostat (contact maker, generally open) is used to regulate filter fans and heat exchangers, as well as to switch signal devices when the temperature limit is surpassed. An increase in temperature causes the contact to close. Unlike traditional change-over contacts, heaters and cooling equipment can be switched independently of one another using a temperature offset.
