A dual-purpose controller from the GuardLogix 5580 family, the 1756-L82ES combines normal control and safety control into one unit.
It has 5 MB of regular memory and 2.5 MB of safety memory, allowing it to do both standard automation duties and safety-critical procedures simultaneously.
This controller supports Integrated Motion via EtherNet/IP, which allows for synchronized multi-axis motion control while ensuring safety compliance.
It has a 1 Gb Ethernet port for fast data transfer and a USB 2.0 port for local programming and diagnostics.
A 2 GB Secure Digital (SD) card comes pre-installed for non-volatile storage of user programs and tag data.
The 1756-L82ES complies with stringent safety requirements, including SIL CL3 (IEC 61508) and PL(e), Category 4 (ISO 13849-1), making it appropriate for use in robotics, packing, material handling, and other safety-critical situations.
It also has a 4-character alphanumeric display with real-time status updates.
