The collection of communication devices that make up the USB-RS232 adaptor cables. The US232R model offers a straightforward way to convert older serial devices with RS232 interfaces to USB ports. A compact internal electrical circuit board that makes use of the FTDI FT232R is housed inside a durable plastic enclosure that can tolerate a wide variety of industrial temperatures in each US232R adapter. TXD/RXD LEDs and RS232 level shifters are additional integrated electronics that show data flow via the adapter visually. A regular USB-A device connector is integrated into the cable so that it can be connected to a hub port or upstream host. Modem handshake signals and other RS232-level signals are accessible through an industry-standard DE-9P connector. 1 MBaud is the maximum data rate at the RS232 level. To make the US232R adapter cable appear as a Virtual COM Port (VCP), USB device drivers are required.
