Real-time reading and control of sensors as well as digital and analog I/O are made possible via the EtherCAT protocol. By enabling local sensor and signal reading via a single UTP cable, cabling is reduced, simplifying and improving the functionality of the system. When paired with a Master Motion Controller (XMC-E32A/16A/08A/E32C), this provides a comprehensive EtherCAT-controlled real-time motion solution. Real-time I/O combined with smart I/O reduces wiring and facilitates the creation of an easy-to-use system. It offers a communication protocol called EtherCAT for incredibly versatile use cases.
